WHO'S WHO? DIRECTOR OF MARKETING

Bob Girardi was named Director of Marketing at SofTrek Corporation. He will be responsible for marketing strategy/planning and marketing program development. Bringing Bob on board demonstrates a serious commitment by SofTrek Corporation to grow its management team, and enhance its focus on addressing the needs of organizations in the
nonprofit marketplace.

Bob has a passion for technology and business, and is driven by an analytical mind and an energetic, entrepreneurial spirit. Up until his employment with SofTrek Corporation Bob was Global Brand Leader for IBM?s Global Services Division focused on marketing strategy, business development, and world-wide marketing program execution. With over 25 years in the technology industry, and expertise in the areas of marketing management, business planning, and software/service product marketing, Bob's experience and skills complement SofTrek's management team.

His initial charter will be to work with the management team to refine strategies for growth in both the nonprofit fundraising solutions market and the Oracle applications hosting space. In addition to spending as much time with his wife and three children as he possibly can, Bob volunteers time to local business and community boards/councils. He also enjoys a high-degree of physical activity through cycling, running, cross-training, and martial arts. While he will occasionally relax with a good book, it is usually a book on marketing or business — though once in a while he?ll be found sneaking in a few chapters of the most recent Harry Potter.

3RD ANNUAL GREAT GORGE HIKING ADVENTURE

The popular Niagara Gorge Hike run by Rob Bellitto is back for 2006. This year we plan on doing the hike a little differently and doing it up! Not only will we have a hike, but hikers get to choose from one of two levels of difficulty so that no one needs to be left behind. We'll also have a BBQ picnic waiting at the end of the line in the Niagara Parks that anyone, hiking or not, can attend for a little socializing and 2 hours of all-you-can-eat grilled specialties! The hike is free, and the picnic just $10. Enjoy the evening air and take in the sights of Niagara, Tuesday, August 1. Some transportation provided for those who need it.

THE 2ND ANNUAL WET JET BOAT TOUR
Our first Wet Jet boat tour met with raves! Ride the mighty lower Niagara on a jet boat where you can crash the waves, run in rapids, and just get soaking wet to the bone. It's a great way to blow off some steam after that first grueling day of sessions, and it is a thrilling, fun ride. To round out the evening, we'll have the option of dining at Water Street after the ride. The current rate for the ride is $45, and dinner (your choice of Chicken Wrap, Hamburger, Beef Chimi-changa, or Chicken Caesar, including soft-drink and fries, including tax and tip) is just $15. The tour will be Monday, July 31. Reserve your spot in advance by calling 716 691-2800 x.116.

ADVANCED BUSINESS OBJECTS TRAINING
This course is designed to explore the capabilities of Business Objects beyond the topics covered in the standard introductory course or anything covered at the conference. Learn how to use Business Objects to create master/detail reports, use functions and calculations to create report variables, understand how to combine the results of separate queries into a single results table. There is an additional fee of $250 for this full day of training following the conference on Thursday, August 3. Please call PledgeMaker client services to reserve your spot:

JDRF MOVES TO PMOL

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) has been a PledgeMaker client since 1995. They currently have over 90 chapters, most of which use PledgeMaker's online services as their fundraising system. JDRF plans to bring remaining chapters into the JDRF/PledgeMaker database to complete the data unification project.

With projection of having one central database for the entire organization, JDRF makes use of PledgeMaker to identify donor constituents by chapter. This centralized handling allows JDRF to reduce costs by maintaining one database for their enterprise, while giving individual chapter?s access to their information and transactions. Chapters maintain access while allowing the national office the ability to create organization-wide financial reports, maintain chapter accountability, and efficiently provide services at the organization scale that would be more expensive or even cost prohibitive for each individual chapter. JDRF has been able to repurpose resources formally dedicated to managing the PledgeMaker installation by applying those resources to other duties associated with administering the JDRF chapter enterprise.

To further increase efficiency, JDRF recently migrated their web and walk registration site to SofTrek?s appitat datacenter. With the site on the appitat datacenter servers, JDRF can make use of the PledgeMaker Web Service API?s to integrate their web site and PledgeMaker, with real-time transactions and PledgeMaker data.

ABOUT JDRF

Founded by parents of children with type 1 juvenile diabetes, JDRF has always focused on a single goal: accelerating research progress to cure diabetes and its complications. With their unique research management process, they have organized as a diabetes cure enterprise. They take informed risks, continuously monitor the global diabetes research landscape, and make research investments strategically, to ensure that resources are effectively directed to research with the greatest impact leading to a cure as soon as possible.
